I never planned on getting one. I was going to wait at least until Apple showed their cards on their support for 3g for Europe. I went to the local Apple store and played with it. Next thing I was walking out of the store with a new phone.
It's an amazing little device. I knew it was going to he a success even before it went on sale. I knew because of the buzz surrounding it. I knew because if apple was going to make a product it was going to be good. Most cell phones today are terrible. It was a simple task make something as good as the current offerings.
I am pessimistic to think that the cellular software and hardware companies will grasp what it is that makes the iphone successful. I expect to see some changes. But I think they will all miss their marks.
Also, I expect to see some changes to the way the cellular network companies will do business. I am optimistic about these changes most of all. I would expect to see more solutions that offer improved activation and simpler plans that have data already as part of the plan.
I hope to see Apple roll out software updates to the iphone. I see the rumors saying that apple has some software updates comming soon and I hope they are right. Apple was not good at updating the software for iPods instead they released the software on new iPods only. I've got my fingers crossed that this is not the case.
